Love in Exile by Shon Faye

Just finished listening to Shon Faye’s new book, Love in Exile, very beautifully written, would recommend. Loved the chapters on community, motherhood and religion. Also made me think about a lot of things e.g. galentines is absolutely just a ploy to get money out of singles on Valentines Day, sure your friends can be the great loves of YOUR life but it’s kind of sad when it’s not reciprocated and the great love of their life is ‘Darren’ , you don’t have to push a baby out of your vagina to be a mother, there’s so many ways we should and DO all mother/ show motherly love because we all have collective responsibility to each other, TERFS are angry with men/the patriarchy but as it’s illegal to murder their fathers or husbands, redirect all their rage onto trans women because it’s socially acceptable to hate them and finally how while it would be absolutely lovely to marry for love and every piece of media I’ve ever consumed throughout my life has pushed for this, unfortunately I’m more likely to be Charlotte Lucas than Lizzie Bennett and at 28 years old should probably start seriously considering marrying for money and status (aka just being able to afford rent in London!)
